What's in this template

A ready-to-use JSON-LD template for Article and BlogPosting schema - the structured data markup that helps Google understand and correctly display your blog posts and articles in search results. Copy the template, fill in your values, and add it to your page's <head> section.

Article schema vs. BlogPosting schema

Both are valid. Use Article for news articles, long-form editorial content, or posts on an organisational website. Use BlogPosting for personal blogs or clearly blog-format content. For most small business blogs, BlogPosting is the correct choice. Google treats both similarly - the difference is semantic rather than algorithmic.

The fields that matter most: headline (your post title, under 110 chars), datePublished (ISO 8601 format: YYYY-MM-DD), author (a Person schema object, not just a name string), and publisher (your Organisation schema). The author field is critical for E-E-A-T - a named, schema-linked author with a Person page signals real human expertise.
